72 c-10 350/350 - the wylie new guy

this is the 72 i just bought two nights ago for $275.
today i pulled the carb and the intake, both headers, drver side head and the a/c compressor. tomorrow hopefully i can get the other head off so i can replace the head gaskets and put it all back together and then put the new starter and alternator on it. there was a edelbrock performer intake on it but i have another edelbrock intake with c4b casted on the front and the flow characteristics look better so i may swap them out

Re: 72 c-10 350/350 - the wylie new guy

so what would be the best way to clean gunk (no rust) off of the cylinder walls without removing the piston? the truck blew a head gasket and the guy who owned it died and his son inherited it and sold it and it has been sitting sence, i could break away some of the build up but not all of it, the piston is still clean after years antifreeze on it.

We need to get that thing home. Hope the brakes work. Just thought about that. Did the guy say how long it has been sitting?

Re: 72 c-10 350/350 - the wylie new guy

he's had it for about six months, the fitting for the vacuum line in the brake booster is broke so if the brakes do work, it won't be power brakes. it's almost back together. i'll post pics after i figure out how to get them off this camera, i got a MUCH better pic of the spid. and some pics of a few things i REALLY don't like about the truck. hint :

Score on the C10! The creative Impala badge cracks me up.
Looks like the previous owner left you a nice little mess in the engine bay.

The Impala badge is funny.

Oh, and the salvage yard Intallates motors.... or some thing. Not sure what you would do when you are intallating something. HAHAHA

Re: 72 c-10 350/350 - the wylie new guy

the number eight runner is really tall and i don't think i can drop the dizzy all the way down. not only that but now i also have to find a carb with the same bores as the intake. and the wiring is a complete mess, although the busted tail light atleast still works
not quite sure what to do, it's like playing with a bunch of
