Re: skips 65k hei

I have been checking out my wiring and trying to come up with a game plan while Im waiting for my dizzy to come. Im assuming the white connector on the fire wall is the ressitor ballast, so im wondering if I can take that out all together or does it serve another purpose, im thinking that I can run my 12g wire from the dizzy throught the fire wall and straight into my ingnition swich, and take out the wire that is there now and replace it with the wire comming of the hei,

Re: skips 65k hei

I put a small cap one from him in mine and it is working fine. The first one I got was damaged in shipment and I called them and had no problems returning it. They shipped me a new one and paid shipping both ways.

Re: skips 65k hei

Been checking out the wiring while waiting for hei to come in the mail, I have a wire that comes out of the fire wall and into, what I think is a ballast resirtor, and from there goes to the coil, then the other wire on the coil goes to a little canister on the side of the coil and dead ends there, the yellow wire on the silinoid is hard to trace but does not come back up to the coil, here is what I am assuming please correct me if Im wrong. The wire that comes out of the fire wall should be 12v and is connected to the ballast resistor if I connect straight into that wire and discard the ballast resistor I should have constant 12v and thats it, Im also wondering if some were along the line that yellow wire on the silinoid was disconected and I dont currently have the 12v at crank, possibly had a hei at some point and then back to the points and did not get rewired correctly

The original wire needs to be replaced,
1. it is not big enough to carry the proper current rating for the new HEI.
2.the wire is resistive type and will not let the HEI work to its potential.

I have the 65K HEI from Skip White in my 69 driver and have had it in there for well over 2 years and it has worked flawlessly the entire time.

Re: skips 65k hei

ok, after further investigation and replacment of a bad multimeter here is what I found, the wire comming off of the silanoid runs up to the ballast resistor and is 12v constant then on the other side of the ballast the wire is 9v and that goes to the coil, I origanly thought the wire comming to the resistor was straight from the ingintion swich, so can I run the 12v source thats comming of the silanoid to the hei as my 12v source,
