Re: Anybody have power door locks???
I installed some pd lock actuators out of a 1984 cutlass, and used some aftermarket switches and a relay, work good so far

Re: Anybody have power door locks???
I've seen alot of kits on ebay also. I've heard anything made by DEI is good quality. I'm thinking about getting keyless entry for my daughters car.

Re: Anybody have power door locks???
How about some installation pictures.
I picked up a couple of GM door lock actuators and I know JCWhit sells a remote brain box, but I need some ideas on mounting the actuators in the doors. Mick |

Re: Anybody have power door locks???
I have the same kind of locks as the LMC kit. Bought mine off Ebay. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same exact part though. Paid half as much and did twice the doors. Never had a problem with them.

That sounds great, but I'm a Hot Rodder. I want to do it my self, put it together, figure it out, with the help of some friends, my way, my time, my energy. I been to the stereo store, rip-offs. Slammed the stereo in, slammed the alarm in, get it out the door. Made the carpets dirty, drilled holes for who knows what, wired tied and scotch locked a rats nest up under the dash where no one would see it. I told them not to drill a hole for the stupid blinking light, what did they do, drilled a nice hole right in the console for a blinking light. Oh yea they wanted me to bring back one of my other cars for thumpy, trunk eater box. When they gave me the price for a MDF carpet covered box I almost fainted. Two GM door lock actuators 10 bucks. GM used these for years, they must work just fine. One door lock module, 35 to 75 pick your poison. Doing it my self and knowing it it was done correctly and not by some slam-it-and-get-it-done (person) PRICELESS AND Some body didn't joy ride my pride and joy Some body didn't copy my truck key so he could swing by and rip off what ever he wants from my truck later that night. (did you ever notice how you just got a bad a$$ something installed and it just so happens to get stolen a little while later, I wonder who knew where you lived, did you happen to fill out the work order with your address, was you registration in the glove box, did you leave your house key on the key ring with your truck keys, how many guys we checking out your ride while they were doing the install...) Now back to our scheduled programming. Got to find the video.... Mick |

Re: Anybody have power door locks???
Great video.
BUT I was really intereted in how some one was doing it on a 67-72 truck not a prius. My 67 the door lock rod isvery close to the edge of the door and the space is pretty limited. I thought if someone had a revelation or some very cool way of hooking this up it could get me started. Also the lever arm on the door lock is very short, not sure if that matters yet but just an observation. It looks like I have some GM door lock pieces and clips and I can mount the look near the bottom of the door and the rod going straight up into a GM piggy back rod connector right at the factory rod connection...simple straight up and down movement. Re: Anybody have power door locks???
Mick- this is not door "lock" related but I stumbled on a power window installation while looking around the net. If anybody is interested:

They make it look so easy. I'm bookmarking that page for future dollars. Now I have to decide does a truck as rough as mine deserve power windows? Maybe I have no choice because the windows are very hard to roll up now, therefor I have to have power windows to fix the roll up problem. I love this kind of justification. Power windows would fix the hard to roll up now problem. But I was using the hard to roll up windows as justification for air conditioning... Mick |

The hard to roll up & down problem will need to be fixed with new regulators.
