Generator light on with key in accessory position

Like the title says when I put my key on accessory position the idiot light is lit.
I'm not sure what this means, I don't think it's supposed to be on. Can someone confirm this?.

Re: Generator light on with key in accessory position

Might want to ask a moderator to move this to the electical section, to get a better answer, but I think that is normal for the light to be on in the acc position.

Does it also light in the run position? Mine doesn’t, only the oil light.

I think they only do it in the run position before you start it. (To check the light operation).

Re: Generator light on with key in accessory position

With the key in the run position and the engine not running the light should be on if not check to see if any other accesories are also off such as wipers and blower if so you may have problem w/ iggy sw.

Re: Generator light on with key in accessory position

I just checked, In the run position everything works. Lights (inside & out) fan, wipers, radio & only the oil light is on in this position.

Re: Generator light on with key in accessory position

s/t have you checked your alt to verify that it's putting out with engine running the alt light is what supplies your alternators feild current to get it started once it starts putting out current the light goes out because there is 12v (nom) positive voltage at both ends of the light. Are there any mods to your charging system. since the light comes on in acc pos it shows that if is flowing to ground so it is possibly not getting power in run pos.
