Lifting be d from truck.
I'll probably do it by myself. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried using an engine hoist. Pull a bolt from the front and back of each wheel well then use those holes to bolt a chain to. Also thought about using this method on the cab later on using the cab mount holes. Any input?

I cut a 4"x 4" long enough to fit under the bed rails. Slide it up against the front side of the middle stake pockets and then wrap a chain around the center of the 4"x 4" hook my engine hoist to the chain and lift it off. Works great!!.... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Dont use chain, try straps instead. Your sheetmetal will thank you. I might try going from the corner stake pockets if you are using a hoist. But, the best way is to invite friends over, one on each corner and lift it.

With the engine hoist you can do it by yourself if necessary. I've only done wood floor beds with the wood out of the floor so there are many places to hook a chain or strap that won't hurt the sheetmetal.

I simply fabed a 4-way out of 1.5" aluminium tubing (steel would work to), put a eye bolt at each corner and 1 in the middle to hook to the hoist. Then use tiedown straps from each corner eye bolt to the bottom of bed floor. Worked great with no distortion to the bed assy., and is an easy 1 man operation. Works great for the cab too.

I used 4 ratchet straps and went to the four corner bed pockets. If it's a little unbalanced the ratchet straps can then be used to level it out. Worked slick. No scratches. Check to make sure everything is unbolted. I found that somebody had welded an exhaust hanger off of the bed cross rail.
