anyone ever replace front fenders and have this...

a problem with the rear of the hood not sitting flush. But the fenders are aligned with the doors, windshield pillars, etc... Already tried loosening the hinge bolts on each fender to adjust it with no luck. Not sure if I should try making the holes oblong so I can "push" the hinges down.

front parts is fine and it closes fine too

Remove the springs and see if it will sit down, if it does the hinges may be worn. But making the adjustment holes longer may be a good fix for it.
I can't really say without looking at it.

Aftermarket fenders?

If the hood fit fine before the fender change it has to be the mounting holes for the hinges in the fenders. I think you were spot on about elongating the holes. You didn't say how much you were high but I would guess it is around 1/4 inch. Try it it should not hurt anything.

Loosen the rear most hinge bolts enough that you can spin them with your finger then just barely loosen the front hinge bolts, Push up on the front of the hood so the back of the hinge rocks downward, Tighten bolts while holding pressure up on the hood. This method usually works as long as the hinges aren't worn to bad.

The PO had just replaced them before I got it, not sure if they're chevy replacements or not though. The rear is about 1/2-5/8" high. I'll try removing springs to check for worn hinges and then the other adjustment technique.

thanks guys

Don't remove the springs. They are a ***** to get back on. If the hood fit before, then the problem is in the adjustment. If you rotate the hinge up in front, it should bring the back down.

Try it first before you elongate holes or remove the spring.

Somewhat off topic, but thought I would share a trick I learned about re-installing hood springs.

If you need to remove the springs for whatever reason, and will eventually have to reinstall them...yes, they can be a PITA!

Before you try to pry them off, do this.

1. Open hood enough to stretch the springs out...not all the way so they are completely compressed.

2. Grab your change jar...and start stuffing pennies/nickels, etc. between the spring coils.

3. Open the hood all the way, and the springs will literally fall out.

4. To reinstll them, keep the coins in there and reverse the steps above. Once you close the hood...the change will fall out all by itself.

If the springs are already off the truck, you can stick them in a vice and bend it and stick coins in as you do so...it will lengthen as each coin is inserted.

Sounds corny I suppose, but it works and you dont have to worry about flying springs, chipped paint, or injured body parts.
