Question I need S10 drop spindle help... 93 vs 98...

So here is my problem... There is a smoking deal on a set of drop spindles, 4" blocks, shocks and a bolt in c notch off of a 93 S10 on craigslist.... I have a 98 S10 chassis that I am throwing under a 54 GMC I am buying this weekend... When I look at S10 drop spindles from MOST companys they list a part number for up to 94 and a different part number for 95 to 03 Except summit who shows their brand of spindle fits 84 to 03... Does anyone know the difference? Is it as easy as changing the ball joints or tie rod ends to make them work??? Why is summit different??? I even called Bell Tech and confirmed that their spindles are different.... HELP!!! Thanks!

I gave a set of spindles that came off my x-wifes 93 Blazer (square body) to my buddy @ work to use on a 98 ext-cab (round body) S10 truck. Only thing I remember being different is ABS vs. no ABS.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Thanks Scoti.... I thought you would respond to this... I am going to roll the dice and buy them... If they don't fit I will throw them on ebay..

I just called him to verify the exact year of his truck & it's a 99 model. I know the spindles were used on various Malibus (78-81) & a 93 Blazer I owned.

The spindle nut is a metric thread on the newer spindles. I just bought a set of castle nuts with the right thread. I tried to get a hold of belltech in jan, but the whole place was shut down for inventory. Summit told me there was no difference. He was sooooo much help!

Blazers are different. They switched to a duel piston caliper in '98.

Right..... Blazers utilize the different spindle that uses the dual piston LS style caliper. There are dropped spindles offered for these applications as well (& LS1/C% vette brake adapter kits).

Wow!!!! I didnt know this, although it doesnt surprise me. I picked up some drop spindles and was going to convert to the S10 set-up with single puck calipers.

Look for post-98 S-10 Blazers for the right spindles & stuff. These use the separate rotor/bearing & hub assembly vs. the old school 1pc rotors so bearings are more expensive.

I knew there was a difference but didnt know exactly what had been done. I pulled off my front tire for some exploratory surgery and realized its completely different. Its very similar to a 4wd set-up.

Who makes a dropped spindle for this application?? Or do people just convert as I was thinking.....there are a million wrecked S10's.

Bell Tech makes them.

Thanx Scoti....just went to the Belltech site and read the install. Those spindles are righteous bucks. I just bought spindles, coils, shocks, blocks, leaf springs, and a front air-ride set-up for S10's for 200 bucks..its been years since I messed with these trucks and didnt know they made these spindles....

.....back to you c10addict!!!!!!!

I've owned 3 different 78-81 Malibu's (all 2drs), 2 ElCamino's (78 & 81), & my x-wife & I had a cool little 4/6 dropped 93 S-10 Blazer. I've done as much suspension stuff to them as I have to these GM trucks .
