Steering Column ID ??
Found this column in a 70 4x4 in the junkyard Friday. I knew it looked a bit different but got it anyway. It only has
P N R D L so it has to be something with a power glide? |

Re: Steering Column ID ??
It's a tilt column, which was a cool find. Not sure about the D L, they didn't put a power glide in 4x4's or th400's so it had to be a th350 with a different lens. Nice find, how much did you give for it?

Re: Steering Column ID ??
I'm not sure but think that might be a column out of a 68 passenger car.
I'm not sure what year they put a collapsbile column in trucks but the 70 I had had a solid column. I'd say it is a good and desirable find though. Last edited by mr48chev; 04-12-2009 at 09:53 PM. |

Re: Steering Column ID ??
The tilt lever is a generic GM car piece, but I don't recognise the straight shifter. That almost liiks like something out of an old Continental or something.
The shift indicator lens coulda just been slapped on there, either way, even if you can't get it in your truck without hacking, you can sell it pretty easy to some street rod guy... they gobble those things up like crazy. |

Re: Steering Column ID ??
The knobs on the levers are definately Pontiac. Maybe a 67-68 Firebird GTO GrandPrix.

Re: Steering Column ID ??
That is a 68 Pontiac tilt.. All of the innards from the shift lever collar up are the same as our truck tilts..
