Clutch Linkage
Converting my Blazer to 4spd. what are the differences in 4wd and 2wd clutch linkages.

I believe it's all the same with the exception of the zbar mount on the frame. It will be closer to the cab, in a 2wd it will be further from the cab. It's riveted on so you can move it where you want it and just bolt it on. If you can't find a truck with the zbar mount, you can probably make something pretty easily.
You might consider going with advance adapters hydraulic conversion. I priced it out and it's not rediculous, a couple hundred I believe for all new parts. Novak has one as well.

Its taken me 2 years to get my linkage just right, I drive a 72 k1500 and the parts have been a real pain in the ass to locate. You may have more luck, being yours is a blazer, but I would also recommend going hydraulic. I'll be making that change when the funds allow.

im not sure if its the same on blazers but i noticed when i was pulling the linkage mount of my 68 2x and pulling the junk one of my 68 4x
i noticed that the mount was rived on with the linkage mounting whole towards the ourside of the frame on the 4x, where as on the 2x the bracket was spun 180 degrees im not sure if thats what ur question was asking about, but that is the only difference that i have noticed between 4x clutch setup and 2x clutch set up nate

I got a 71 3/4 two wheeler frame and the front clip is still off the 71 4x4 1/2 ton if you need dimentions pm me i will mesure it up for you.

4x4 pedal to Z-bar rod is curved and, AFAIK, is no longer available new.
2wd pedal to Z-bar rod is straight and still available new through LMC for about $30. I'm not familiar enough with any differences between 2wd and 4wd Z-bars to talk intellegently on them, but I suspect they differ because of the need for 2wd truck clutch linkage pieces to avoid the bellhousing rear engine frame mounts & brackets.

Anyone have any good pics of the linkage on or off the truck.
I have a Z bar off the 75 Blazer the trans came from hoping it might be close. |
