Scraping a frame???
Ive got a C20 chassis Im thinking of scrapping and I was wondering if anyone has done this and what they got for it? I know that the cost of steel is different in different places and such, but I was just wanting a ball park number.
Anyone that knows, let me know please. Thanks |

Re: Scraping a frame???
They're only paying $60.00 per ton for scrap up here in Arkansas. I would guess a frame only weighs 250-500 pounds depending on which crossmembers are attached. Prices were up to $250.00 a ton before the financial crash. I usually just cut off the crossmembers and save the frame rails to cut up for brackets, etc...

Re: Scraping a frame???
Scrap prices are WAY down. I scrapped two heavy duty 3/4 ton bumpers, and only got $3 for them. Too bad they weren't made out of aluminum. Cans are almost $2 a pound here.

Re: Scraping a frame???
$45 a ton here. Maybe a little more if you haul it yourself, but a scrapyard near my jobsite supplies a dumpster and then pays us a little less for the stuff. Last week, we sent in 13,020 pounds and got about $300. But it's no muss and no fuss.

Re: Scraping a frame???
It's not worth the time to steal it anymore, I own a real Estate Brokerage,We list all the HUD houses in MO and almost every vacant house in the ghetto got stripped a year ago, now it is only about half of them, LOL....
