finally got pics of my truck
well i finally took some pictures of my truck
for those who dont know its a 74 C-30 cab-and-chassis (hence the user name!) that was bought new in 74 by my grandpa and has been in use on our farm since. around 86 the cab was swapped and all the body panels were replaced except the hood, which is the only original metal. the truck was run until 96 when the clutch started to go bad and was parked and set aside due to my grandmother's cancer. since then it has sat around the barn yard, and getting tinkered on by me. i hope to finally get it road worth by new year (my senior year in HS) here it is! do ya think she needs rockers!!?? and some pictures of the SPID for all you 1 ton guys

Re: finally got pics of my truck
Thanks!
..for the bed i would like a pickup bed but i dont want to cut the frame....i've though about getting a fleetside DRW rear axle and get a long bed, set it in place then add the dually fenders 4 inches back, and just diamond plate the floor and more the wheel wells back a bit

Re: finally got pics of my truck
sorry about the long time to reply...
i have a cab and chassis truck and the cab to axle is 4 inches more than a regular fleetside, if i were to put a fleetside bed on i wouldn't want the gap and yeah i love the look of the tucked duallys!

Re: finally got pics of my truck
really 4" gap i knew the cab chassis trucks had narrow axle but i was not aware that the axle was located diffrently than a long bed truck. so if you put a long bed on there the axle would be back 4" from the wheel opening. or the the wheel weel and axle were lined up there would be a gap between the cab and bed correct?

Re: finally got pics of my truck
yes you are correct. they offered cab and chassis in different lengths, why the 4 inch difference? i dont know, maybe because they engineers knew that one day it would irritate some dumb kid lol

Re: finally got pics of my truck
so I kinda almost got an update..
i made sure before school let out I got all my tires fixed and holding air, finally the trucks been used as a dolly for the aluminum flatbed my dad bought for his truck while I did some reconditioning (no pics, i forgot) which also means that I'm getting his old rotted steel flatbed (which he took off my truck in '97 when he bought his truck) so theres some fabrication in my future and with some money I've saved up, as soon as we finish building the gooseneck hitch for my dads truck, my trucks going into the garage for the clutch its been waiting 12 years for (what a shame its sat so long just for that) i just keep plugging away on it here and there

Re: finally got pics of my truck
so what about the 4 inches? May help you access the fuel sender without dropping the tank in the future...you'll be able to use the truck like a normal pick up for a while, at least while you decide what you want to do for long term... and sheetmetal can always be added to extend a normal fleetside, just get another bed and cut it!!.
