Question for Crazy Longhorn

In this pic, where did you get that alternator, or how did you make it that color? I want a red one for mine, and I can't decide if I should take one apart and have the case powdercoated, buy a new onw, or what.

The pic doesnt show for me Larry, but if its a shot from webshots on my 69 its a 73 up alt that is painted with high temp eng enamel. I just pulled the pulley & fan off , & taped the holes & squirted it. the color is a Ford red, same as my sb.

Yea, it's your picture. That looks pretty nice, I will have to try it. Did you use primer on it or anything, or did you just spray it with the engine paint?

I had a buddy givin me hell about that "ratty lookin alt" on that fresh sb.....he thought i needed chrome, but i didnt think so! No, i didnt use any primer, just cleaned it up good with brake clean, & squirted it. I dont drive in the wet, or slick but the paint has been on there for 5 yrs.......a cheap detail , on a low bucks toy!

Cool, I got a free one, and I have to take it apart anyway to clean it, so I will give it a try. If I get a chance, I will post a pic of it when I am finished too.
