Since you made vacuum line changes, the changes could have inadvertently affected your dizzy's vacuum advance. Double check that before getting too carried away. If stock, you should be able to remove the hose and put it back on with no noticeable changes, and no vaccum at the hose, when engine is idling. Have a buddy hit the gas, and see if the vacuum at the hose increases with the rpms up.
