Puropedo's newest adquisition...
Whats up guys, here's the story of my newest ad-quisition, it is a 1978 GMC heavy half short wide bed. I am a 67-72 chevy truck freak, but after viewing
some members sweet a$$ square bodys I decided to buy one to work on it. I posted it 4 sale on this great website a few weeks ago just because I really didnt have where to park it or store it, ( now, I thank god it didnt sell) I am getting attached to this truck just like my other ones, you guys know what I mean. I found it on craiglist and traveled about 600 miles roundtrip to get it. The 78 is pretty original, it is 99.5 % rust free and it sports its original paint and interior, options are... a/c,tilt,pb,ps and cruise control, plus its got all the original trim. Atached are some pictures first one is how I found her and the rest is how she sits now...ENJOY! Last edited by Puropedo; 10-13-2009 at 02:40 PM. |

Dat truck looks clean I'm thinking of putting the factory trim back on my '74 and putting a factory grill.

Re: Puropedo's newest adquisition...
I thought that was a great truck for a even better price. If you were closer to me I would've been the one to buy it, nonetheless, I am glad to see you still own it and are very happy with it.
Any plans for it? Maybe an LS swap in the future?

Re: Puropedo's newest adquisition...
Gracias amigos for all your comments! The paint was dull so all it took was a little buffing, I wish I had the knowledge to do an ls swap (will work on that) Future plans are to maybe bag it and convert it into a chevy and replace the rear window for a one piece. The engine is the stock 350 it has
a few minor leaks but runs like a champ. Here are some more pics. Last edited by Puropedo; 10-13-2009 at 02:40 PM. |

Re: Puropedo's newest adquisition...
If it were mine I'd keep it a GMC, all that more rare.
If an LS swap is what you want to wind up with eventually, leave the drivetrain in there for now and start doing some research at ls1tech.com. It's a great website for conversion info, you'll come to find out that it is not as hard as it at first seemed. What are the drop and wheel/tire specs? That has an awesome stance to it.

Re: Puropedo's newest adquisition...
Thanks again for all your compliments guys, for those who asked about the wheels and stance here is a little info... I swaped those wheels from my 72
cheyenne, they are TT 2's 20x8.5 fronts and 20x10 rears, rear drop was achieved by using a 6" belltech flip kit and 1" kustom made shackes for a total of 7", front I used 3" belltech spindles and 3" coils springs, u might not believe it but with all that drop it still rides pretty good, I have some rubbing issues in the front though, Im thinking of trimming the fender lips. Ok now time for a beer. |

Re: Puropedo's newest adquisition...
Well well well..... you didn't decide to sell it after all.
I'm glad that you ended up keeping this in your fleet, and can tell that you have done some nice work on this thing. Maybe you could do a write up on buffing out old paint over in the detailing part of the board. I can hear a call to Nate coming in the future... for a DM (dropmember)!

Re: Puropedo's newest adquisition...
Man that is a nice one. I agree with the others, I would leave the GMC grill. I could care less about how rare that might make it. I would be more concerned that it will help it stand out....
