One side higher then the other side

I got slam specialties bags all the way around, CPP Deluxe Track Bar, and shock relocators. Everything is installed correctly and my shocks aren't bottoming out either. For some reason my passenger side is about 1 1/8 higher then the driver's side in the rear. It's like this aired up or aired down, so it's not hitting anything. I unbolted the track bar from the factory spot on the driver's side to see if that helped it and it didn't.

Any other ideas?

Where are you taking the measurement? When aired-out, is the frame resting on the axle?

Re: One side higher then the other side

no, it doesn't quite go that low. My body guy/air ride installer was over here finishing up the windshield and measured it from the upper tailgate body line. I just unbolted the passenger side shock and nothing either. Woodridge told me to check the trailing arm to make sure the bushing isn't twisted or anything. I don't have a socket that big, I had to borrow one when I put them back on, but by looks the bolts seem to be aligned good and the same amount of thread is on each side.

The only thing I would think that is left is if something is wrong with the passenger side bag.

Re: One side higher then the other side

What position were the arms in when tightened? The bushings could be in a bind. Do the bags read the same psi? Is the front uneven? That could cause the rear to shift. I would pull both shocks just to eliminate them completely.

Re: One side higher then the other side

Front is fine, no gauges, or at least not yet. I only have front and rear switches so both bags on the back are the same.

The trailing arms were put in at the front first, hand tightened until the rearend could be attached.

I'm sure, or I hope, that this is something simple I'm just not thinking about.

Was trying to make to a little show here in town that Stacey David is putting on so I'm kind of annoyed by this. Been planning all week to go.

Are you running blocks? Aired up the trailing arms don't look parallel.

I think I would loosen the trail arm bolts, let it settle out. It may be in a bind. Look closely at bushings.

Re: One side higher then the other side

Here is something simple. Check your body bushings thats one thing that eliminates suspension problems and is way simple, and alot of people over look! Aslo if you are not running 8 valves this will happen you dont always get even air pressure in your bags with a 4 valve system especially if you where in the truck when you aired it up. IMO 4 valve systems are not a good idea, you get alot of roll in corners and they ride out of level at low psi.

You had it on schraders, what did it do then, with equal pressure?

Re: One side higher then the other side

never checked the pressure on the schrader's just aired it up when I needed to get underneath it. I think it had a little lean then, but I probably thought that one bag had more pressure then the other.

I know I have a leak in the system somewhere, on the pressure side.

How about swapping hoses on the bags right to left and left to right. If the problem is reversed then the valving is suspect (maybe different size orifices or fittings restriction).

Put it back on the schraders, throw 70lbs up front, 45 in rears. See if lean goes away.

Re: One side higher then the other side

well, I got the trailing arm loose and still didn't fix it. I did however notice that the when I aired it out this time the driver's side stops and then the passenger side continues down some more.

How off is it now? I understand slams have built in bump stops. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Re: One side higher then the other side

I put bags in the rear of mine and they are slams as well. I get the same problem when I let the air out, or air it up the passenger side is always higher.
I have the two bags on seperate schrader valves as well. I suspect it is the body mounts that is where I would start.

Re: One side higher then the other side

So you've just got one fill and one dump that operates both rear bags? If so, it's going to be unlevel if both sides of your blazer don't weigh the same. Things like speakers, fuel tank and battery location are going to effect you. If where you are parked is unlevel you're going to have more lean to the downhill side. Have you done a measurement from the frame to the ground on both sides? If your frame is tweaked or the body tub needs shimmed it could cause things to look askew. I'd also check your tire pressure...A tire that's a few pounds lower then it's mate on the same axle will make you have that lean.

What he said

I had the same problem with my truck, turns out the frame was tweaked a little bit. Might try measuring your frame to see where you stand.

okay, measured the frame in two different spots and it's about an inch higher on the passenger side.

id just go to your local farm/auto store, they should have psi gauges u could borrow or return after using to eliminate the valves and leaks from the equation.
just my 2 cents

Hey B. Did you check this inside your garage? Your floor in there is pretty level. I wouldn't trust the turnaround out there to be level though. Just a thought.

Measuring from the frame to the ground or from the frame to trailing arms? I think checking from the frame to the trailing arms will show you if you've got one bag that's inflating more then the other, while meauring from the frame to the ground is just going to show you that something is askew (which you already knew).

(Well on my way to ghost writing for Dr Suess with that last lil bit!)
