Can someone help me?!?!?!? I have a 1971 Chevy C-10 with a 350. I want to get some stainless steel block hugger headers but i am not sure if they will clear the frame rails, or motor mounts. Does Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Block Huggers Maybe? Help me?!?!?!
i had purchased a set of block huggers.. they cleared frame nicely but dumped right on crosmember . it would have been nearly impossible to get down pipe attached. in an earlier post i was told to get 4wd block hugers. they dump farther back. i bought a set of "chevelle" headers at swap meet. they sweep back nicely but just rub along frame on dr side. i will clearance frame with a grinder to make them work. they originaly were purchaced from ebay. seems that from head flange to back of bend on each tube could be a little shorter. some brands work perfectly.

most headers state they wont work with angle plugs. you might consider a pair of 2 1/2 in rams horns do a search you will find they perform well and are relatively inexpensive. and will be less likely to leak. i thingk they can be bought for less than $200 pr.

How about Polished Stainless Steel Ram Horn Exhaust Manifolds!
Found these at Speedway, I personally would buy these over headers all day long at $350 a pair; They also have some plain cast ones for 59.00 a side.

Re: Block Huggers Maybe? Help me?!?!?!
i believe the sound is produced by the " system" more than the headers. read this i found by using the search function. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=320079 this is exactly what i was going to do with my block huggers.
if you are looking for performance i dont think block huggers will be noticably different than rams horns. you need longer primary tubes to get better performance. i think if you are stuck on headers go with the chevelle mid length. or the rams horns i think jc whitney sells sthem for less than $200 pair. ebay chevelle headers about 135 |
