Glass Run Channel
What's involved with replacing the glass run channel, you know the weather strip that goes at the back and top of the door window frame?

You should be able to take the door inner panel off, roll the window down, pull the channel out and put in the new. The toughest area is where the rear of the window frame meets the door. It's a little tight there. LockDoc

Re: Glass Run Channel
It helps if you remove the two lower screws and loosen the upper screw on the rear channel frame so that it can be pushed backwards. This will give you clearance needed to remove the window run.

Re: Glass Run Channel
Thanks for the replies. Do I need any kind of glue or anything?
I'm thinking I might as well replace my window regulators while I'm at it, how are the repops?

Re: Glass Run Channel
That is the easiest weatherstripping to replace. It pops right in, no glue needed. All you need to do is remove your door panel. I also had the triangle windows removed at the same time, so the glass slid forward and made it easier to remove the channel run. Should only take you a few mins, even where the difficult part is, as described by Leon above.

Re: Glass Run Channel
The run at the back of the wing window(vent window) is the hardest part.My pop rivet gun would not get down into the channel far enough so I cut a spacer with a tubing cutter.Made it from steel tube. They told you the rest of it.

Re: Glass Run Channel
If you're gonna do it, I would go for it all the way and take the window and wind wing out, and replace the seal on the base of the door as well. I doing all that stuff right now to both doors and it's a lot easier and you can do a better job when it's all apart. I would look at replacing the door latch and pull assembly at the same time - mine were trashed when I took them out, and it's a 10 minute install.

Re: Glass Run Channel
I used a pop rivet gun to secure the vertical seal. I had to grind it (the gun) down on both sides to get it to squeeze into the back of the channel. On a couple of them, I just flipped the gun around and riveted them from the front.

Re: Glass Run Channel
So the run at the back of the vent window needs to be riveted? Hadn't planned on replacing them but might go ahead and get it over with.

Re: Glass Run Channel
I did not rivet the felt on the back of the channel. I riveted the vertical seal on the front, and the felt just pushed in on the backside over the rivet heads. I used a little glue to set them in place.
