I got a 2wd.

Im painting my g35 in a few weeks and I really dont want to drive it in the winter ever again. While its been apart Ive been driving my 85 C10 everyday and I have fallen in love with it all over again. I live in Rhode Island and we get snow so I want 4wd. Now my C10 was bought new by my dad in 85 so I really wanna keep it. How can I make good in the snow?

I have searched but didnt really find anything talking about my bodystyle

Can I pick up a 4wd and swap everything over to my truck? or do I have to swap my 2wd metal over to the 4wd? My truck really is a solid truck, I have a 305 but it runs great, it could use a carb and needs a water pump but thats it.

Please let me know what you guys think. Here are a few pics after I did a lot of work and painted her, I saved her from the dead.

i think with some good all terrain tires, and some weight in the winter, it should be fine in the snow, as long as you dont need to go out in deep unplowed snow. 4wd will only get you going faster, or up nasty hills. but a couple hundred pounds of weight in the back will give it gobs more traction

my 82 started life as a 2wd but I flipped the cab onto a 4x4 frame if you decice to go this rought you will have to use a 3 inch body lift or cut wour tranny tunnel to clear

Where I live we get tons of snow. For the past five years my dad had drivin an 85 2wd, spring, sumer, fall and winter. He always uses a good studded tire and I have never seen him get stuck or go off the road once in snow or ice. Just load some weight, have good tire and you'd be fine. But If you wanna go with a 4x4, just find another frame...

Thanks for the input guys. My G is RWD also and I basiclly did what you guys are saying to do. I picked up snow tires and it was fine. Ill keep an eye out for a cheap $x4 I guess. It would be nice to plow hear and there too.
