Re: 2wd to 4wd silverado
I don't think that 2000 4x4 trucks had solid front axles. Not sure what year they stopped using them but the newer silverados are not solid front axle trucks.

Check out B&C offroad. They do a lot of straight axle swaps and lots of pics. It should be the same as olders trucks. You can also check out the 2wd to 4wd converts on this forum.

Re: 2wd to 4wd silverado
there has got to be some how-to's on the internet for this, a solid axle swap in is something that i have seen more and more of on the newer trucks, and my little brother is paying me to build his 02 chevy into a bad ass 4x4 and i am planing on doing this swap in it, his is already a 4x4 but the IFS on the newer trucks is proble prety close to the same weather its 2x or 4x

Re: 2wd to 4wd silverado
if you plan on using a divorced transfer case then no prob just use front axle and springs from a 73-87. When you decide to do this use the front spring hangers from the very front of a 73-87 and the rear shackles and hangers from the very rear of a 73-87. Just flip the rear hangers around backwards and line them up on the inside if the frame.
