OL GMC Dealership Kirksville. Mo

Couldn't resist the temptation of stopping by a place from the past in town on our way back home. This GMC dealership sign has to be 50 yrs old.

Man,what I`d give for that sign!! But,I`d rather see it hang another 50 years where it belongs.
That`s a great picture with both trucks and the sign.

Sammy those shots turned out great!

It was great meeting you and firedog yesterday, so thanks for taking a detour on your way home and stopping by. I hope to return the visit to the St Louis area in the future.

Side note, they are actually remaking the old GMC signs, but the last time I recall seeing on it was in the 4-digit range.

BTW... I see that old square bodied bowtie off there in the back ground.

Re: OL GMC Dealership Kirksville. Mo

If it just wasn't so highly mounted on that wall it sure would be tempting. I bet that sign would be worth $300 or better to the right collector if it still lights up.

Sammy, let me tell you... it still lights up; it's one of the coolest sights. It's one of the things I look forward to when I am in the area at night. I would give $300 today....

Re: OL GMC Dealership Kirksville. Mo

I grew up in Kirksville, the dealership has not sold new trucks for many years...I would quess back in the 80's. I think it was called Weber GMC, they sold all GMC models when in business from pickups up to semi tractors. They are still in the school bus business, I am not positive, but I believe they own the buses for the K-ville school district, I think the school district pays them to haul the kids to school instead of owning/operating the buses themselves.

I think you need to carry a camera for a nite shot when it's lit up. Everyone here would luv to see it, as you can tell from the responses.

I will try to do that the next time I am running through there. I usually forget to take the camera when I'm on the road, but that's about to change.
