need part #

Could someone with a 73-up parts book find me the GM # for the front brake backing plate on a 3/4 4x4?
Thanks

What year specifically? Drivers side or passengers side? Let me know and I'll look it up at work on monday.

Re: need part #

This is what I know. 1/2 and 3/4 ton are different. The 3/4 rotors are much larger so the backing plates are larger.
I think mid 70's plates are the ones I am looking for. 75-78 maybe.
The rotors are the same from 71-87.
Also the backing plates are the same LH-RH. Only the calipers are different.
I will post a pic of the one I am looking for the numbers on. If your book has pics it may help to confirm we are talking the same thing.

Re: need part #

Here are some pics of the problem and fix.
The problem is that the tin shields rust off. And the 72 factory backing plates are partial plates, not full round and 1/4" thick like the newer ones. Also the shape of 1/2 ton and 3/4 are different.

Re: need part #

Ok I got the shield numbers for you. Unfortunately The books nor the computer showed any difference between 1/2 and 3/4 ton applications. (I work at a long standing GM dealership up here. It's been in business since 1945) So here are the part numbers.....
R/S - 462813
L/S - 462814
Fits 75-78 models.
Now the good news.... Both parts are still available thru your local dealership.

Re: need part #

After some discussion with another board member and some time at the local dealership today, here is what I found.
The numbers BLE 'BURBAN has given are indeed available but I gave him the wrong info.
What I am looking for is 1979- 1984 K20 plates. They are no longer available from GM.
#'s 14023421-LH
14023422-RH
Now that I have the correct years and #'s I will search some other leads that the dealer gave me.
Thanks everyone.

Re: need part #

I need a pair of these as well, but I have a 1 ton with a Dana 60 front end. Would they be the same part number as the 3/4 ton?

Re: need part #

I have no idea. Best thing I found is going to the microfish at the dealership. There you will find pics and part #'s.
