Front Crossmember Diffrence
What is the diffrence between the 63-72 and 73-87 front crossmember, To my understanding it's just the controll arms have diffrent balljoints for the spindles. Someone please let me know I have a 64 crossmember that I want to sell and someone that wants a 73-87 crossmember.

Re: Front Crossmember Diffrence
I believe the frame rails are wider apart on the 67-72's it's one way or the other, I just can't remember which. So I believe, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, it will either be too long or too short.

Re: Front Crossmember Diffrence
The guy that wants to buy the crossmember has a 84 4x4 and wants to make it 2WD. I know the frame from 63-87 is the same except the front frame horns. I dont believe that it's wider.

Re: Front Crossmember Diffrence
Most of the guys that swap the earlier crossmembers for the later ones do it because of: 5 lug rotors, disc brakes, & the control arm bushings are rubber instead of steel lined like the older ones, it's supposed to be a softer ride.

Re: Front Crossmember Diffrence
The physical crossmember is the same, but there are less holes on the 67-72's. I have cut a few of them up... The difference is the balljoint/spindle...
