What do you use on your windows?

Just kind of curious what everyone uses.I use a mixture of water and vinegar and wipe it off with newspaper. No streaks.

That is correct. If you have tinted windows it will be in your best interest to stay away from any product that contains ammonia. I have heard it has the tendency to 1.) discolor/fade the color of the tint; 2.) and actually remove the tint from the window.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

The Rain-X window cleaner (Not the one with the rain repellant in it) is the best that I have found in a long time. It is clear and is a good remover of oily bugs and road grime.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

Now, we accidently sprayed quick detailer on the windows of my '08 and was that a mess! It took forever to get it back off teh windows without them being streaked from top to bottom.

You got me on that one. What era was that from?

Windex and micro fibers cloth. Yeah, I know it is "supposed" to fade my window tint. All I can say it so far it hasn't enough for me to notice and I have done it this way for years.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

Go to Walmart and purchase the Rain-X widshield cleaner (the CLEAR bottle, not the yellow one) for your windows. It works great and is not supposed to dry out the tint.

No it doesn't. I have used Rain-X and now the Aguapel windshield treatment and the cleaner does not take it off. As a matter of fact it makes cleaning easier and no streaking.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

I use windex or whatever then go over them with "Green Alcohol" The green alcohol is about 70% IIRC and cleans well but leaves absolutely no streaks.Green alcohol is avaiable at the drug store for usually a buck a bottle.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

Rain-X window cleaner and microfiber towels for my rides.

The Rain-X also works nice on clear coated wheels, like the ones on my '05.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

Anyone use newspaper rather than papertowels or microfiber towels? I have heard several old schooler's talk about using newspaper to remove your choice of window cleaner.

Re: What do you use on your windows?

Newspaper is an old school way we learned in the army to get streaks off of windows. I have used a couple of different window cleaners that do not leave streaks. I think the streaks comes from not using enough cleaner. I used to be anal about clean windows on my daily driver. Driving 60 miles home every morning in the dark showed you all the places you missed.

I do. I'm really showing my age because we used to use it all the time when I was a kid in the fifties. You put it on the glass and it dried to a milky haze and then you took a soft cloth and polished it off. Left the glass real clean and shiny but you got white powder all over the place. I wonder when they stopped making it. Now I use Windex "All surface" cleaner. It's much better than regular Windex for cleaning off bugs and it seems to be more streak resistant. I'm sure there are better (and more expensive) products out there but it works OK for me.
