Mirror Suggestions?
I shaved the "dumbo ears" mirrors off my truck, but can't seem to find something clean looking to replace them. Any suggestions?

If you really wanna replace them....go to a hot rod shop or bike shop and look at the billet ones!

Finding replacements is not going to be easy. I've been looking since I removed mine. I finally settled on these off a Monte Carlos SS.
The mirrors can also be found on C-4 Vettes, Caprices, Montes. You mount them directly but the end tip points down. I'm making some spacers so mount up straight out. Should look pretty nice when I'm done. |

My truck is a long wheelbase truck, its a pain in the A$$ to back up with no mirrors. the billet ones I've seen look really small. I'd like some that i could paint, so I'll keep looking.....

Take a walk around your local Auto wreckers Yard I'm sure you'll see something.
If all else fails Canadian Tire has a ton of them all different sizes on display and they are reasonable Prices. most of them can be painted.

You can do what i did but it's not for everyone make some blanking plates out of some .065 aluminum plate and mount some beretta sport mirrors on them and then install them into the wing window channel you can see them in some of the pic's of my truck on my w/s.
Oh yeah i almost went with the same set up as G but the wing window can only be opened about an inch due to the mount location of the mirrors on the door. But since that wasn't a factor for me cuz i never used them anyways i just deleted them. And as G said they dont sit right unless you fab up some sort of angled spacer iv'e seen several trucks in person and in pic's with the camaro mirrors and thay do look good if done right but due to the way the mirror tapers down towards the outboard ends it may not be good choice for you since you have a LWB truck. |

Dave,
Yes the mirros are off a Monte Carlo SS. Of the few years made only the 86 and later models had them on. The owner at least said they were off a Monte. I got them off ebay for cheap. |

I once saw some nice ones on a truck like ours. The owner said they were from an El Camino. They fit perfectly.
Woodman over at Chevytalk just replaced his Dumbo ears with some of the small chrome ones that were stock items on the older trucks. They were just a few dollars apiece at the local boneyard. Slonaker |
