powder coat hinges???

hey guys,

just curious? Can i take our hinges to a powder coater? Im just thinking that the extra thickness will prevent movement.

Re: powder coat hinges???

Check with Sammy (boardmember name) and see what he thinks about his hinges. I know he had his PC'd and he can give you some first hand experience.

But I agree with my67chevytruck, it can be done.

Re: powder coat hinges???

I powdercoated mine. I don't think it will effect the movement but they are not installed yet. I have done it in the past on a Camaro with no problems.

Re: powder coat hinges???

I bought my Hood Hinges off a guy on Ebay who does powder coating , this was before TX Firefighter was ofering his services as a PC'er on here. He doe's them all silver, all Black or like mine a mixture of the two.

I will say that the coating did prevent the hinges from closing when I first installed them, a little gentle coaxing fixed that and a small amount of WD40 for good measure.

Re: powder coat hinges???

Mine were powder coated after they were blasted..Two months ago still stiff to close but getting better all the time. I like the fact they are shiny look new if I wipe em down. I had them done, latch plate upper n lower, in black. The serpentine done in sliver. Other than fighting to realign the hood getting better all the time. I will have the other trucks hinges done because they look better than shootin em with spray cans. Finish is outstanding as far as wear just hard to relub after being baked.
