front axle done for now
You may remember I finished the t-case a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I finished assembly of the front axle.
Because there were some mods done I will now pull it out of the frame and finish the details and then reassemble. You can see the crossmember that I fabbed for the sway bar. That needs coated now that it suits me. The hubs are done and new rotors installed. The calipers will be cleaned and coated Blue next to go with the build colors. I may galvanize that crossmember. Still undecided on that or Black. All parts that could be replaced were done so with NOS. Pretty Blue dials and Chrome rings.

Re: front axle done for now
That sure is purdy.Nice job on the sway bar cross member. The one on my truck is just c-channel mounted between the frame rails.
I remember when you rebuilt another axles with n.o.s. a couple few years ago.

Re: front axle done for now
Thanks guys.
I searched a lot for parts and when I found them I bought them up. I did have to assemble with the original backing plates though as I have not yet found the ones I want. I know what they are, just can't seem to find them. The rear end is next. I bought a locker for it and will keep the original 10 bolt. More pics to come.

Re: front axle done for now
Jerry,I hope you know I did not mean anything by that.
The plates are something that can always be swapped later pretty easily, but you know that. I found some in Texas but the guy would not give me a price. When I told him I was in North Missouri, all he wanted to know was if I had any Whitetail deer hunting. Guess we both had our priorities. Might have some others located but they are a long way away. I can wait. I think I will test fit the tires today.

Re: front axle done for now
I'd give both loins and a roast but never give up my hunting ground.
Too much invested there and it is for special friends now.

Re: front axle done for now
looks like me and the little woman might be splitting up in the near future so maybe i'll have some more time to hit the junkyards. it's over 100 degrees today but i hope to get out there when it cools down and do some "scrounging".
i didn't get to go deer hunting last year but for some good hunting i'd pull the backing plates off my own truck, lol.

Re: front axle done for now
Jerry, sorry to hear that.
Me and my mrs. have made it 32 years this year. Howshe puts up with me is anyones guess. Keep your plates. I work hard on my hunting and you are always welcome to come to my camp. (I hunt here at the house. Pretty cushy huh?)
