Factory sway bars 1 1/16 vs 1 1/4

my truck didn't come with a sway bar but i have one from a 79 3/4 ton but it is the smaller 1 1/16 bar. Should i just get some new bushings and run it or is it worth it to scrounge the junkyards for the bigger 1 1/4 sway bar? I know aftermarket would be better but I'm trying to do it on the cheap. Even this small one should make quite a difference right? Thanks!

I don't know that an aftermarket bar would be a lot better. Since you have the smaller bar, why not use it. If you run across the larger bar, them change them out. In the meantime you will appreciate have "any" bar on there.

Thanks guys and also the how to with the pics is great, now i can refer back to that if i need to. Yeah i got a 1 1/16 bar, thing is it came off my Dads old 79 C20 heavy duty 8600gvw 3/4 ton. I would've thought that truck would have the big bar but guess not. I'm gonna use what I got.

And use the Poly bushing to get the most of what you got!
