Plastic inner fenders

My father swears there's a company out there that makes inner fenders out of plastic for 80's chevy full size trucks. He's holding out on getting metal inner fenders for his '87 K20 because he wants these. Anyone have any leads? If they do exist hopefully they make them to fit my '74

Re: Plastic inner fenders

I have never heard of such a thing, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Check with Capt Kaos. If they are out there, he will know.

Re: Plastic inner fenders

I'd love to have me a set of plastic ones, as long as they were reinforced.. they won't rust, and they're lighter.

i would be worried about them cracking especially on a 4wd or any truck in a metro area where the roads stink

Re: Plastic inner fenders

USBody makes fiberglass inner fenders. I have never seen any other plastic ones. But if there were some made out of thermo-plastic, like used for milk jugs, I think they would work nicely. Incidentally, I know of at least one GM car that came with plastic inner fenders... the Pontiac Fiero had them on all 4 corners.

Re: Plastic inner fenders

Late 70's GM G-body cars had plastic ones, really thick ones too. It would be nice if they made them for our trucks.

Re: Plastic inner fenders

Olds 442's with the W-30 package had cool red plastic inner fenders . On a truck I wouldnt think they would save that much weight and would offer less structural integrity . I have never seen any either . My vote is that they were never equipped with them and I cant think of an aftermarket company that makes them . They may have been made in the 70's though since they made many wild things in the 70's .

That's pretty much why he wants them, not so much the light weight factor but no rust.

I know that the new Dodge trucks have plastic inner fenders, because I had to replace the one my BIL busted on his truck by pulling into a fence row and hitting a 3' tall 2" round tree stump.
