what late model ac stuff to look for?

I know a lot of guys here have adapted late model air conditioning to their trucks. If I go to the wrecking yard to grab the goods, what make and model do I need to look for?

I have an ac cab on my 69. I have priced out repairing the old system...and I got shell shocked. 134a would be a plus. What models has everyone else used?

I've seen somebody use the existing condenser and and coil from the old style. Take a new compressor and attach to the system with a new evaporator. Works fine. but a good cleaing would be in order. This is what I have planned to do to mine when I get to it.

Re: what late model ac stuff to look for?

I was planning on putting a r-4 type compressor on my 68 and go to a serpintine belt setup. I have sold 9 truck in the past two weeks and hav'nt been able to buy any in. So I am rushing to get a bed in prime to put on so I can have a ride. Right now the plan is to get my dad to carpool with me to the shop till I can get that bed on. You are in Ar and you must need the air too ,it was like 110 with the heat index today. Stay cool, Jim. Oh, by the way I was plannig to use a updated POA valve compatible with 134a.
