funny thing happened on the way to Super Chevy show today...
Taking my buddy's '72 GMC Sprint down there to sell today. We leave the house at 9am, go about a 1/2 mile to grab something to eat at Burger King, and a guy pulls up in the parking lot beside us and ask if the "el camino" is for sale! We say heck yea it is. He takes it for a drive, comes back, ask how much - my buddy says $6500, the guy says will you take $6300. Heck yea!
We follow him to his bank about a 1/2 block away, swap the title for cash and watch him drive off in it. Says it's for his 16 year old son. Took about 20 minutes to do the whole deal. Unbelievable. We still went to Super Chevy. Saw an awesome '70 swb with a late model LT1 in it. Absolutely awesome. SCOTI, I saw your truck in the parking lot, but didn't see you walking around. Later, SC.

Welll. . .I thought maybe there was more swap meet stuff/cars for sale area that I didn't know about 'cause I never saw a sprint. Is it me or did the swap meet area seem tiny?? Oh well since I walked the swap meet so quickly I had more time to look through the pits & met up w/a real nice guy from Tyler w/a beautiful blue 72 swb. 600ci w/#1 cyl even w/spindle C/L, alum brodix heads, dana 60, 4-link, fact front crossmember swiss cheesed & mII rack. Said it was 3800lbs w/him & ran a best of 9.60's in the 1/4. Oh yea, I learned first hand all about the term 'REDNECK'! lol. Did you check out the silver swb 72 from Rowlett in the truck area? Sweet ride. . . . .

It must not be that uncommon. I got my first truck at a supermarket parking lot. Went up to sell my wife's car, the guy with the truck liked the car, I liked the truck, so we left even up. I got home and my wife asked me "what did you get for my car?". The rest is history. TF. E. Tennessee

Hey SCOTI, yea that swap meet was tiny, though I did pick up a near mint set of 58 Corvette valvecovers for $40.
Maybe that silver '72 you're talking about is the same one I mentioned above. The one I'm talking about was from Heath, TX. Had the Corvette LT1/4L60E, custom interior with a center console from a late model Trans Am I think, 4 whl discs, bagged, etc., etc. SC

Yeah thats the one...it's still not as low as my driver but it sure looks a heck of a lot nicer!! Did you see the big block nostalgic magnesium covers for 75$ in the swap area? I thought about taking them off his hands but they were a little too banged up for my taste.

Yea, I saw the covers. I think they were aluminum - I know he said magnesium - I just haven't seen any mag ones come from Japan like those were stamped. They were a little heavy too for mag in my opinion.
Anyway, I have a couple of sets like that already. Oh yea, he told me $65
