Hesitation/stalling when shifting from 2nd to 3rd?

any of you guys experienced almost stalling when taking off from 2nd to 3rd? My buddy has the same thing going on once every while. he has a 69 chevy with 350ci and i have the 69 gmc with a 350ci.

Maybe the idle speed is set too low? Or carb's idle air bleeds are plugged? Seems like when you close the throttle plate, the engine is not getting enough air. Clean that carb out real good and change the fuel filter.

Thx, Mclairmo actually its the opposite of that, ok so im taking off from a stop ,2nd gear tops out so shift to third and poof it falls on its face (i still have the pedal down, throttle open) then 2-3 seconds its dead then it starts chugging up to rpm to get thru the intersection. I will spray the carborator down though, any other thoughts?

Sounds like fuel starvation. I'd take the carb back out, give it a good cleaning and make sure everything is in good working condition including the float adjustment.

The way the fuel enters the intake from the carb is with the accerator pump when you depress the gas pedal and then through venturi suction of the gas in the float chamber. Small holes on the throat chamber suck the gas in. These could also be plugged or restricted.
