Re: Biggest engine
Never heard of a Holley trans... But you could bolt in any small block. So the question is; how big of a SBC can you afford? Here's an extreme example:

Re: Biggest engine
I have seen 500 caddy motors in this body style. Im in the process of gettin an Apache 30 with a 396 in it...................... That 400 will go in as easy as a 283 if you got mounts. If you gotta welder you can do what ever you want

Re: Biggest engine
I've seen BBC's in these trucks but he said without any cutting. I know there is at least some firewall tweaking involved.

Re: Biggest engine
if you use the forward holes for the motor mounts you can put a bb in with no problems. I know you have to use the later model perches though as headers will not clear the eariler ones. I opted to cut my firewall to set the engine back as far as i could get it only becuase I like it back there. Looks better to me. Here is a picture of it in and then painted finally..

Re: Biggest engine
Let me ask this, If you put a 350 without a fan do you use the forward holes or rear holes?

Re: Biggest engine
If I use the rear ones, will there be any issues with the firewall?

Re: Biggest engine
No. You should even have enough room for an HEI dist. Here is a picture of a small block using the rear holes without any fenders on. http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...t=4ba7593c.jpg
