Steering Column removal

I will be picking up my trans and factory automatic steering column next Friday. Obviously I need to remove the three on the tree column. Any of you have any experience at this or tips to share?

Re: Steering Column removal

This is how I did mine- May be an easier way that I don't know about.
Pull the DS tire.
Remove the cover where the tube goes through the inner fender well.
Undo/remove clamp bolt at rag joint shaft from gearbox.
Remove shifter rods from column.
Remove screws/bolts from covering at firewall.
Disconnect the two half-moon wire connectors under the dash.
Remove steering wheel.
There is a bracket under the dash with parking brake with bolts that have to be removed and two bolts that hold the tube to this. Remove these.
Remove that whole bracket and set on the floor. You don't have to remove/unhook the parking brake.
The tube should slide out through inside and the shaft will come out by the pitman arm.
Good luck

Re: Steering Column removal

Sweet! Sounds like I can do that in a couple weeks time...errrr maybe a couple hours. It always helps to have somebody who has done it recently walk you through it.

Thanks for the help!!

Anybody else?
