68 Tachometer Question?

I have a 292 4 spd and everywhere i look it seems that no one make a factory style tach for a 6cyl. I read somewhere that the camaro tachs work in our trucks but don't know if they make one for a 6 either. Do I have any options besides a aftermarket unit because I would really like to keep it stock looking.

Re: 68 Tachometer Question?

a camaro tach doesn't look anything close to stock.
I would think a 6 cylinder truck tach would be very commin compaired to a camaro 6 cylinder tach.
Keep an eye on the parts board and in big truck in the junkyards.

Re: 68 Tachometer Question?

I don't know but when you look them up in LMC and other catalogs it always says V8. And every aftermarket tach I've owned has a switch to change it from 4-6-8 or wire loops to clip.

The tachs are differrent. The tach reads the electrical signal from the coil, so eight hits is two revolutions for a V8 whereas six hits is two revolutions for a 6 cylinder.
