Re: Cab question
There was no floor shift on these trucks. That had to have been added by a previous owner.

Re: Cab question
I have a factory installed Muncie M-20 floor shift in my 70. I can prove it with my SPID. If the hole is to one side it probably is a High/low range shifter for 4WD.

Re: Cab question
the truck is definitely a 2wd no doubt. i find no indication of
it being a 4wd. Whats the height diference form a hi hump to the low hump? How do you look up the spid? Thanks for all your help! |

Re: Cab question
Well then I stand corrected! That's a new one for me as I've never seen or heard of such an option either in the factory lit. or on any truck. Must be super rare.

Re: Cab question
Just because you hadn't heard it, doesn't mean this wasn't a common item. IIRC all 4 speed manuals got a floor shift. Most of them (I don't recall the model number) had the Granny first gear so in effect you drove it like a 3 speed. I think you'll find these more common in 3/4 and 1 ton models, since the Granny first was good for pulling a heavy load from a stop.

Re: Cab question
The 4 speed was the base mode tranny in all one tons regardless of the year. (67 - 72)
It was pretty common in all 67 - 72 2 wheel drive and 4x4, 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks. Not even rare. The SPID is the sticker inside the glovebox door that tells you what options the truck had originally Your TH350 is not original, they werent installed till 69 the high hump floor is bolted in, the low hump is part of the stamped floor. All 4x4 trucks, all 4 speeds, and most every big block/auto got the high hump. Last edited by Longhorn Man; 08-11-2009 at 11:33 PM. |
