Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
So lately it seems like there has been a ton of posts in this forum for Ebay and Craigslist ads, which I find anoying. I like to read and see posts for tech info, new ideas or products, questions, etc. and I feel like there has been a large uprise in these non user advertisements.
I know there are rules for non paid members and not posting for sale, to buy or what's it worth posts, ideally paid members are encouraged to post their stuff in the For Sale area but it seems these member (paid or not) post for something they have no affiliation to is kind of side stepping the intent of the forum. So I think there should be a different heading within this area, specifically for these Ebay/Craigslist type ads. Kind of like the Projects have their own area within this area. What's your thoughts? Click the poll above for your vote. Mods, if this is inapropriate, feel free to delete it.

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
I post ads up when I find a really great deal I want to pass on. I think it does make sense to be in the classifieds, but I also know most of the people see this forum more than the others. THey may not be looking at that moment, but if the deal of their lifetime comes up and they miss it because they don't check the classifieds daily, that would stink too...
I think as long as it's clear it's a craigslist/ebay link in the heading, people who don't want to read them could just pass on over those posts...

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
I don't shop the online classifieds all that often, and I kind of enjoy seeing what other regions are selling out of their back yard.
Or if I hear talk about a member that is in need of something, I will often check my area CL to see if I can pass along a potential deal. If the majority feel that posting this kind of info is annoying I will stop.

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
I like seeing them as well whether they are funny, good deals or just heads up. Gives me a feel of what is being sold over the rest of the country. And...(ahem) seeing as how I am both a "pink" member and have recently posted a Craigslist ad from the DFW area I guess this directly applies to me although I'm mature enogh to realize not exclusively me. All I'll say outloud is that if...no, on second thought not if...I'll just stop. I don't want to be doing anything wrong here.

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
I don't mind Craislist or ebay.
The posting of the "infamous" super cheap, green blazer SCAM (that has been all over the country on Craigslist),... may have saved some unsuspecting buyers a lot of money. By people posting that particular ad on here, saved me when it came up in my region. I believe it was on this board again just recently. It may need it's own heading,... but If I don't want to look at a thread on here,... I just don't open it.

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
there used to be an e-bay/craigslist forum, and all it did was piss off the general public, so we stopped.
I say if you don't wanna read about an add, then don't click on the thread. there's another thread just below it you can read instead. personally, it bothers me more that I have to move threads like this every time I log onto the board. 2 to 5 min per thread moved times 3 to 15 threads = a whole lotta labor. I like the ebay links and craigslist ads. They help see what people are asking for stuff and what its going for. There have also been some really neat trucks and stuff found that way.

Yeah, if you don't like them, just skip them. I do the same thing with my remote control when I'm watching tv. .....................................Bamm

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
I think they are great! I like to see good deals out there and if one of our fellow board members can hook up to a great deal that he/she might not be aware of, all the more better.

Re: Ebay/Craigslist Ads, Like them or hate them...
I like being turned onto cool things as much as anyone.
However...I find, primarily with CL ads, that it's great to find a cut and paste of the ad along with it's pics. So many times the ad is gone when I find the post but the conversation surrounding it is not. Makes me kinda frustrated and feeling a bit left out.... IMHO tho---this should in no way condone self promotion by non-subscribed members. ...an ads an ad... whether posted here or as a link. an ads an ad...didn't that rhyme well..? Hehehe.. .
