Gas tank issues
My truck (87 GMC V2500) has dual 16 gallon gas tanks. I have to replace the driver side tank. I know they had a 20 gallon tank as an option. Can I replace my tank with a 20 tank.

Re: Gas tank issues
No the 20 gal tank is for long beds. The 16 gal tank is for short beds. I don't think there is enough room for the 20 gal tank to fit on a short bed.

Re: Gas tank issues
Hang on there, John. If he's got a V2500 then it is a long bed. It may have received the 16 gallon tanks due to some GVW limitation (rather than length).
I'd say a 20 gallon tank might work. Also - just to clarify: 16 gallon vs 20 gallon wasn't really an "option", in that you could just "choose". The decision was made for you based on wheelbase, weight, etc as mentioned above. You could, however, chose single tank vs dual tank, as you already know. K

Re: Gas tank issues
if you look along the frame rails towards the rear you will see the matching holes for the longer tank. the farther end of the tank bracket on there with the short tanks and then you use the set of holes like three or four inches down... trust me i did this last month with my 82

Re: Gas tank issues
Thanks for the info guys. I am going to go with the 20 gallon tank. With the 350 and the 4:10 gears I could use the extra capacity.
