what is a fair price for this truck.

i am usually on the 47-59 side but a friend of mine has been trying to sell his 69 chevy 3/4 ton long box 4x4 truck and getting the your asking too much for your truck. so i figured i would as you guys if his asking price is fair or not. his truck is very soild he drives it every day and it needs a little bit of work. just odds and ends stuff. no rust or rot on the truck. the cab and box are a 68 on a 70's 4x4 frame and drive train. 350 sb 2bl i think it is an auto. he is asking $8000 for it. i think it is a hell of a deal espically for the the shape it is in living in the salt belt. oh he parks the truck in his garage in the winter so it never sees salt. forgot to mention it has a lift and swampers on it. i think they are 33's. i will try to get pics from him. an may even post it for sale in the trucks for sale spot here but just want your info if his price is good or is he asking too much.

Re: what is a fair price for this truck.

We need pictures to accurately answer the question.
Also - is the 70's frame, a 70-71 frame, or 73 - 79 frame? If it's the latter, I feel that drastically lowers the value to most people. It would have to be an absolutely gorgeous truck to get $8,000 on a 73-79 frame.

Going only on your description, and disregarding what you have for a price, I would feel it's a $3,000 - $4,000 price. Throw some pictures up and you may drastically change my opinion.

Edit: Here is a little better explanation on the price I gave. You have a 68 cab and bed, with a 69 title and front end (I assume since you say it's a 69). And then you have a newer frame. It's a mutt. There are a lot of nice non-mutt trucks out there that can be had for $8,000. Now, if this thing is VERY solid, as in no rust in the cab supports, cab corners, rockers, fenders, etc, you may get me to change my mind. Again, pictures are needed.

Re: what is a fair price for this truck.

The guy is probably trying to get what he has in it - not going to happen. Solid 3/4 tons can be had out here for under $2000 - there's a '67 in the photo ad right now for $1800. Without pictures, I'm guessing a price in the 4 to 5 grand range will get a lot more attention.

Re: what is a fair price for this truck.

If it was an original 4wd it "could" bring that. But it isn`t and you need to consider these times.I`d say $4,500 at best.I sold this original paint, western body, rare K/20 last year in your area (just south of Hanover)for $6,000.It has totally new suspension, brakes, steering,as well as tires and clutch.I started out saying I`d take no less than $7,500.I bought it out of Colorado in`04 for $5,500,paid $950 to ship, and did all that work.

He also needs to keep in mind that every buyer is trying to get a "Deal".I'm one who has never paid asking price for a used vehicle.I always offer less since most price vehicles to dicker a bit.
The real decider here is what he will take for it.If he wants the $8,000 then he may have to wait for the right buyer.

Pictures are almost a "must" on this type of post. I sold this truck for 8 grand a year or so ago... This was a body off.

There is something odd about the angle of the bed on that truck...

Re: what is a fair price for this truck.

The rust belt does raise the value of a 40 year old rust free vehicle but with 'Mutt' status it is probably a stretch at that price.
