What to do with a grain truck and a week off.

well you guys may remeber my laid out stepper, ive been collecting parts for and taken off etc..., im in the process of building a new frame, with a dropmember LS drive line, and a 4 link., IM not diggin the z'd and 2 linked frame I built.
I came across a pretty solid one ton, and checked the shop, INDEED, I had spare drop spindles, and air bags, all the suspension peices id need, ( the 1 ton has a straight frame and is 34" wide, welp so is a 73-87 chevy truck.PERFECT!!!! a quick decision to keep the blue unit a stepper, so I had the box.

So here we have a 66 gmc 1 ton converted to a short fleet, slammed down, using 73-87 complete springs hangers and diff out back, diff flipped on top. 72 half ton fron crossmember, 73-87 control arms, beltech 3 inch spindles and some old fire stone bags outa the stepper.

36,000 miles, running the old 292 and 4 gear, 3:08's in the diff make for a great cruiser. some bargain finder 20's and weve got a hot rod.!!!!!

Wadda ya think??????

Re: What to do with a grain truck and a week off.

The suspension is all swiped from an 73-87, I took the rear springs , hangers springs and diff complete, and bolted them on the 66 frame, then flipped the diff on top, the front uses 87 control arms, steering linkage, air bags and beltech drop spindles.. Thanks for the kind words!!!

Re: What to do with a grain truck and a week off.

Thanks guys, whats in store for this guys??

well on my days off this set I had a windsheild put in, new carpet and sill plates, built a giant shifter with a piston on top, and threw in a mexican blanket, did a tune up.

I work 700 miles from home, and this set im driving the old girl up. with the 292 4 speed and 3:08 it motors down the highway just fine.

an offy 4 bbl intake and split manifolds are up for install next set off, after that I think im just gonna drive the wheels off it

Thanks for the comment on the stepper im getting excited and motivated to get back on it, Ill post more pics when I get back from work of both trucks.

The poor ole stepper kinda got set aside for a while while I played with my other new toy...
