Re: My 66
Thanks guys, the truck has been in the family since about 1976 when my dad gave it to me in 98... I started doin stuff back then but went through a nasty divorce in 2000 and gave it back to dad where it sat in his RV garage untill 5 months ago when I brought it home.... I looks pretty much the same as it did in 2000 except for I just changed it over to 1/2 ton and the wheels and tires...Had to redo the exhaust and went with Sanderson blockhuggers and tucked it up real tight with the exit before rear tire...
Tryin to get it done as quick as possible so I can give it back to dad to cruz around town... He was just diognosed with lung cancer and has been in and out of the hospital for the last 6 weeks with infections due to the surgery they did... Anyway I plan to finish what I can then take it somewhere to have it painted and interior done then reassemble everything (if I can remember where everything goes)...... Ron |

Re: My 66
Nice looking truck. Do you happen to know/remember what that upper radiator hose is off of? I'm still running a flex hose and would like a molded style but finding a nice fit hasn't been easy. Good luck to your dad.

Re: My 66
My pleasure. One other thing on my installation - I bought an aluminum swivel type thermostat housing from Summit for about $15.00 and ended up cutting that end of the radiator hose about 1.5 inches for a sweet fit.
Mac.

Re: My 66
I figured either H.B. or Newport.... Thats funny about the radiator hose, I did the motor back in 92 and had several hoses layin around and that one fit the best and dont even know what it came off of... Now I know if I ever need to replace it what to get for it, thanks....

Re: My 66
Yeah, went through quite an odyssey with NAPA over the issue - spending about an hour in a few stores that had them hanging from the ceiling. While the store guys were real accomidating - it was a no go.
Normally, Original Parts Group can be a hassle and very pricey, but I went there because I needed something else for my 65' Malibu and happened to take an old hose that was fairly close to what I needed with me. Old school guy (over 50) behind the counter didn't even do the "We'll have to look in the computer data base" or "find it in the catalog" routine. He took my hose, went out in their monstrous warehouse and came back five minutes later with exactly what I needed. I was stunned. Mac.

Re: My 66
Gotta love the old school guys...
I built a Funco sandrail with a northstar engine and had to do the same thing with the hoses and the guy let me go back and fine "the rite hose", I must have been there for an hour lookin for just the rite bends I needed...Ended up getin a hose that was way to long but only needed a short section that had the bends I needed in it.... Gotta love the full search ghetto method!!! |
