Sound deadeners

I know this has been covered, and I have searched and read a lot. But I want to hear from some guys who have had it in for a while. What brand did you use and are you satisfied with it's performance? Did it stay put?

I put dynamat in my street rod. I have one with and one without the dynamat. There is a major difference. I will put dynamat in everything from now on. I put it everywhere I could reach and have had no issues at all with it.

x2 on FatMat ... with DynaMat you're paying twice to three times as much for the name and it doesn't perform any better.

do a search on ebay for fatmat ... 100 square feet will be plenty for a truck ... blazer and sub will require more.

AL's Liner is now offering an additive, you can add to the liner material for sound deadener. Would be alot cheaper than the other peel and stick deadener, and alot more durable.

For any of the sound deadening products, can you put rubber over them, or does it need to be carpet? I was hoping to just keep the basic rubber lining in the truck for durability and less expense.

You guys who have used the Lizard Skin, is like spraying in bed liner? I did my jeep last year and that is some messy stuff. Don't think I will do that again, I had that stuff everywhere. I have been reading alot lately about this stuff and had kinda been partial to the Fatmat, but wanted to hear some real world results. So no one has had any problems with Fatmat? I gotta get this stuff ordered so I can finish/start my cab.

x3 Fatman... stuck it firewall to under back window-inside doors, then the rubber mat for floor, then carpet.

Huge difference from carpet with backing that was originally in it

Yeah fatmats good. We did my bros 88 supercharger stang and it's super quiet. The main thing we were lookin for was the sound system, it has two L7 kicker 12 inchers with 2 750 mono amps and a 4 farad cap that takes the entire hatch with my custum built box and before the mat it was super bumpin outside now you can't even really here it. It's nice cause I gettired of all the dbags here advertising their chity music with all their windows down in the heat of the day, I mean it's a desert, I have to have my AC.

Lizard skin is a little messy to spray...... I will be posting pics soon on project cod fish. the good thing is I sprayed the firewall on both sides. I will then paint with base bc/cc and you wont know it is there. But you have the benefit of this on both sides.

I was checking out the Fatmat web site and they have 3 different products 50mil, 70mil butyl, 80mil rattletrap (sounds like the one for me... lol) Anyway, the prices vary a good bit, especially for the butyl product which is almost 3 times as much as the standard 50mil. Anyone with any advanced knowledge of these and pluses/minuses?

This is what I oredered for my blazer.. And it did fromt he pedals back to tailgate. It covered the wheel tubs but not the bed sides..

When I used to work on competition car stereos, we saved a lot of money by not using the big name brands. We used a product called Grace Water and Ice Shield. It can be found at building supply stores (not sure about Home Depot and the like). It is peel and stick, but with a little heat it sticks way better than Dynamat ever did. It also has a kind of plastic backing so your car doesn't stink like asphalt for days afterwards.

The best part? It cost like $78 for 250 linear feet!

that really isn't a sound deadener ... it's more of a thermal insulator (heat/cold)

the guy claims it reduces noise, but basically anything will reduce noise if you put in on thick enough ... think of a pillow over your head.

I guess the question is: Do you want just a "sound deadner" or a combo that is also a "heat shield".
