Fuel system on 5.3

Ok so ive looked around and ive been debating the best route to setup my fuel system. Ive never done anything like this so i just want to make sure everythings right.

parts i know i need are

fpr corvette 99-2003
inline pump - walbro 255 (gsl392) - i think
fuel lines - the pump is 5/16 so can i run fuel injection hose or do i need to do hard lines.
last a gas tank which i think ill be running either a blazer tank or summit tank

i know i can get the disconnects for the fpr which are. 730-4927 and 730-4926 from napa.

Re: Fuel system on 5.3

I did a 96 S10 Blazer with 5.3 and used stock tank and pump, Corvette FPR, compression fittings like swagelock from the NAPA adapters for FPR to new hardline up to engine, then Summit stainless braided hose and compession fitting to quick disconnect on the intake fuel line. Works good, no leaks and not too expensive. Good luck. Jim

Re: Fuel system on 5.3

im using 1' of fuel injection hose to connect the hardlines to the tank/pump. and compression fittings fom hardlines to the hardlines coming off of the fuel rail.
i compression fitting leaked before i started engine. replaced fitting so far so good, but i do still carry a fire extinguisher just in case.

i assume youre not using the truck intake with the built in fpr?

Re: Fuel system on 5.3

No, Mine was a 2005 Suburban 5.3 with electronic throttle body. Used the original gas tank from S10 Blazer with original in tank pump. The hard line from pump to original fuel filter I cut and used a Swagelock compression fitting to attach the quick connect adapter from Napa. This goes into the Corvette FPR filter inlet. The return I attached the same way to the cut return line that was on the S10 Blazer from the intake pressure regulator on the old engine, just cut it next to the new FPR. The supply from the Corvette FPR to the 5.3 Truck intake fuel rail, I attached the NAPA quick connect adapter to the FPR, then to the cut fuel line on the S10 Blazer using another swagelock compression fitting. Then from the fuel line at the engine bay used summit Compression AN fitting to Braided fuel line to a quick release AN fitting adapter to the fuel rail. Works great, no leaks.

Re: Fuel system on 5.3

It depends on what year truck intake. Mine was a 2005 and it does not have the FPR on the intake. What year is yours?

Re: Fuel system on 5.3

I'd guess it has the FPR on the intake if there's two fuel lines coming off the intake. Not for sure on that year though. Sorry.
