If your gas tank is moved out of the cab, I have a question???????????
I am wanting to know, with the gas tank out of the cab, do you have enough room, for sub's? If so what size 10" 12" ?
Sam

If you have the stock seat, either one will fit. With aftermarket seats, that may change, but probably not much. Just depends on how far back you slide the seat. Jeff.

Pair of 10s behind the factory seat that I converted to folding. there's a lot of room back there. I usually keep a gallon of coolant and a toolbox back there besides the sub box.
And my seat still goes all the way back. -Jesse

all you have to do to make your seat fold is remove 2 of the 4 bolts holding the back of the seat to the bottom. remove the front 2 bolts and it will fold like it was a factory item

You can put either 10 or 12 back there. I put two 10's in custom boxes that were twice as big as most boxes plus I had room for an amp and a cd changer which I placed between the two boxes.

see my webshots folder under "subs"
http://community.webshots.com/user/frazel I used two 8 inch long throw subs in an 8 inch PVC tube about 54 inch long. Used about 2 lbs of acoustic damping material inside. Plenty of bass. Each sub is driven by a 100 watt amp. Seat still goes all the way back.

Josh,
Here's a thought: use only one sub. If you get a good brand, like JL, Boston, or Polk and plenty of clean power (a/d/s/, ppi, phoenix, xtant, alpine) , you'll be extremely happy with the sound. 2 subs in a regular cab is for people who want others to enjoy the sound as much or more than the driver does, IMO. Done properly, one sub will give you all the volume and clarity you can handle. Match the proper enclosure (I prefer sealed for accuracy but it requires more power) to the sub and get the amp to match the sub and you'll be set. You'll also have more room for stuff behind your seat, not to mention a cheaper box. You can even put a single 10 UNDER your seat and make moving the tank an option. Girls will like the butt massage too! You probably already know this but here goes anyway: Most amps, speakers, subs, etc. have two ratings: RMS and max or peak. Match your sub to your amp on both if possible. More power is better than less but if you're wattage is true and clean, you can get away with less. I only have 120 (a/d/s) watts RMS running my Polk DX12 (rated 400/800) but it sounds really nice. a JL 10W0 or 12W0 would have been optimal for my amp but I plan on adding a sub amp down the road. Plus, I got a deal on the Polk sub. It's not power that kills speakers (usually), it's distortion. More power actually reduces distortion (in most cases) because it gives better control of the sub, it's called overhead (or overkill if you prefer ). Get more power, a nice eq and/or crossover, keep the bass down, and the loudness off. Your sound will be truer and you can turn it up louder and it will sound cleaner. Flat treble and bass settings on your headunit give a cleaner signal to the amp and then to the speakers. Turning those up increases volume at lower levels but tends to distort at higher ones. I am a big fan of one amp systems. They're simpler to set up, easier to tune, and take up less space. Get good wires and cables, get a stout, airtight box with the proper airspace, and you will hear the difference. I like the a/d/s amps with the built in crossovers. I also would buy PPI in a heartbeat. Xtant are wonderful too. Phoenix and Alpine also have some really nice multichannel babies. All of these brands I mention have true wattage ratings, clean power, and normally good reliability. I like to set my stuff up and forget about it. Ebay is the way to go IMO. Hope I haven't ranted on too much. Good luck! Jason

I am going to have two Polk 12" behind my seat. I have done some figureing and it looks like they will work fine. I am also having the box line-x-ed to my cab hopefully it will make it sound better and wont have to worry about having the box stolen. Live in California, and you never know.

i dont like running my speakers off the same amp i am using for my sub. i did that for a while and it was maxed out all the time. i am running 2 mtx amps, they are the Fosgate clone ones from when mtx hired (or should i say stole) some Fosgate people a while back.
i moved my gas tank out of the cab but i put the sub under the seat. i like having the extra room for putting stuff. when i eventually put the 240sx buckets in i'll hafta get a new sub box n stuff but it'll be worth it because i love those seats.

If you are worried about space do what I am planning on doing. I am going to fiberglass the back wall. Then re-inforce the middle of that and use it for the rear of the sub box. If you use plety of glass and also have supports built into it you should be fine. Before I glass I will have a layer of sound deadener in the back of the cab well to keep the vibration down. From what I calulated i will have enough room for two amps, 1 10w6v2 plusr crossovers for the from kicks.

Speaker Box
If your interested I have a custom made speaker box that I just removed from behind my 69chevy seat. It has two 8ohm 10inch Kickers in it. Box is very good quality and speakers are in very good shape. The box completely fills up the space behind the seat from side to side. It has a notch in it to go around the gas tank mounts. I would sell it cheap. Only problem is that the box if fairly heavy. I could post pictures and dimensions if anyone is interested.
