how do you get the wiper arms to come off the post they are mounted on, this is a C10 1/2 ton 1972. the post that is inside the cowl

Pry them off, or use KD tool #2039 it works the best!!!

you need to lift the arm up off the windshield and go to full up this takes all pressure off the socket where arm goes on too. use a thick rag so you dont scratch cowl.
