If I was to shave the outside door handles, would it be ok to just remove the handle and weld a patch over the indention without using poppers and solenoids? I was thinking of just reaching through the vent window to open the doors from the inside handle. It would more than likely be only temporary until I got some poppers and solenoids. Would there be any problems that I haven't thought of to run like this until I got the poppers and solenoids? I just want to make sure it won't mess up any of the door opening internal parts to be opening and closing the door with no outside handle attached.

I don't have shaved doors on my 63 but on my Astro we disabled the locks so there was no way of accidentally locking myself out. We also ran a hidden pull cable attached to the door latch release mechanism for extra insurance.

I recently painted my truck and had the door handles off the outside for several weeks. I just reached through the window to open the door. I don't see how leaving off the handles would make any difference to the latching mechanism. The only downside - it might make it more difficult to engineer and/or install the poppers when you get to the stage, since you won't have access to the latch through the handle hole. On the other hand, if you take the latch out, it probably won't matter if that access is available or not.

I have shaved handles on my 65 and used a powerlock actuators on the inside of the door hooked to the handle and a button on the bottom of the cab corner. Just kick it with your toe and pull the door open. This time around I'm going to use the poppers and mount them in a way to push on the same area the stock handle does and open it that way.

if yall haven't check out Autolocs new gear actuators you should. They are supposed to be mounted anywhere. They had a sell on them.

How tuff would it be to use one of those digital combo locks? Would be cool to enter a code and have the door pop open.
