no spark ??

okay so heres the question ---- 1971 k5 350/ new dizzy/ wires/plugs/ neut switch etc
i turn the ignition to start and it wont fire .... i can hold the key in the start position all day and it wont fire..... but as soon as i let the key go... in the run position she fires and starts up right away wtf ????

First guess would be the ingnition switch itself. Have you checked to see if you're getting fire at the plugs when it's cranking?

Wires on the solenoid switched?

Something about start power vs. run power between the two small wires.

I'd check the "R" and "S" posts on the starter solenoid.

thanks for the info guys heres what i've found only 2 wires hooked up battery and purple ignition what color is the third wire supposed to be ??
anybody?

problem solved !!! when i changed out the dizzy to the msd type i ran a heavier gauge power wire but unintenionally hooked it up to the radio terminal on the fusebox this wire has to be hooked up to the unfused 12 volt terminal or youll have these stupid problems thanks for your input guys !!!
