new exhaust sounds too poppy

Thank you to all who replied to my question about new exhaust sounding to poppy. After trying most of your suggestions I decided to cut the exhaust off 3 inches after flowmaster. Not only did the poppiness dissappear but it also took care of a sluggish off the line problem.Who new .Im still in a state of WTF? never realized that 2 extra bends in my exhaust could cause so much mayhem.Anyway am going to put 3 1/2 feet of straight pipe out the rear of the truck and see what that does. Will keep u all posted thanks again

Re: new exhaust sounds to poppy

I just turned mine down right out of the flow. I have been running like this on all my truck for the better part of 10 years

Re: new exhaust sounds too poppy

Hmmm wonder if that's whats causing mine to be sluggish at low rpm levels.

Re: new exhaust sounds too poppy

Well mine was doggin so bad at low rpms i pulled the front half back off and redegreed my cam thinking that was the problem.mine had a bad stutter at low rpms including shifting to next gear.cut those bends off and I unleashed a beast .mine runs like a raped ape now.not sluggish at any point.Ill post a pic of the section i cut off.

Re: new exhaust sounds too poppy

Headers are 1.75" tube out to 2.50" exhaust to delta 40 flowmasters just beyond the cab. The tubing is 16 gaugealuminized steel.
