Dome Light Switch in door ?

Hello everyone, I brought home a cab to replace the one on my truck yesterday, and upon checking it out closer I noticed is doesn't have any holes in the the door frame for a dome light switch on either side. I've never seen a cab without the switches and am wondering if someone may have welded them up. Has anyone else every seen a cab missing these hole from the factory?

Nope, there were trucks without the switches mounted. I put the switches on my 72 truck when I had it, so it can be done easily. All you are creating with the switch is the ground circuit, so it is not hard. the switch goes on the flat part that is stick out slightly in the middle of the frame.

It's a fact. The base model trucks have no door jamb switches and the dome light can only be turned on by turning the headlight switch all the way to the left. It doesn't bother me so I'll leave mine the way it is.

Re: Dome Light Switch in door ?

all the trucks came without them unless optioned otherwise, it was an option on all 10 - 30 C or K trucks. It was not avalible at all before '69.
Before someone says "its not listed on my SPID...
It was part of some option packages... but, that is an optional package, as in not base equipment.

I believe the switches will "Self-tap" themselves into the sheetmetal.

Re: Dome Light Switch in door ?

Hello fellers, could someone post a picture on where to mount the switch, my truck doesn't have them either and I don't understand exactly where they are mounted if they were ordered from the factory. Thank you

Yeah, they sort of do. I had to replace one on my '72 and it fit somewhat looser than the old one did. Wouldn't really tighten up. I left it be for now and it works, even being a little sloppy in the hole. When I restore I'll weld that hole up and re-drill it.
