Ebay Bastards

I'm just ranting about the people who misadvertise stuff for our trucks on Ebay. It's one thing to make a mistake, but making false claims because you are lazy or greedy is just plain crap.

Example, this dude claims that this bezel fits 73-87, and is "correct" for 73-75. Not only is it not correct for 75-87 trucks, it plain won't fit, it will interfere with the wiper switch.

How about this dude? He tells us 73-87 (or 73-91!) trucks all have the same headlights, never mind that some have two, some have four, some have round, and that there are three sizes of rectangular lights. What a goob.

Or the people who try to sell the magical one size fits all 73-87 fenders, or doors or whatever. There are enough changes to these trucks over the years that even the dumbest people on Ebay should realize they could sell a lot more parts if they would just tell us what they REALLY fit or REALLY came off of. We now return you to your regular programming.

Thumbs down

I totally agree. If anything they need to put 73-87 in the title's end to get more coverage but also place 73-80 or 81-87 or whatever years in the title (that pertain to the item) as well. Heck even place keywords in the description. This will help alot. But back to what you said- Some people just get these parts knowing that they're the next generation getting restored (down here 97-72 are hot right now) and the people want to get as much $$$ as they can off the parts without looking or asking what it fits. Of coruse the don't always will know what year it came from but they COULD get a rough idea. But do they no!!!

Lightbulb

When shopping on the Ebay Channel you must always practice
"Let the buyer beware." Forums like this one educates us all so we won't be fooled by seller's lack of education of the products they are selling, like for example this latest one for "magnifcent "gauges.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33675

Come on, after reading the "Crossy Report" this gauge pack is not a slam dunk for 73-87. This seller is either trying pull one or just ignorant of its real application. Hopefully no one on this forum is going to fall for it.

Here's another asshat are these 5 lug, 6 lug, 8 lug? Of course, you can email these people and try to get the info from them, but man how hard would it be to just write it in the first place.

The reason this really irks me, is that I remember when I was first getting into this, I fell into a few of those mistakes at swap meets and spent good money (that I had almost none of) on crap that I couldn't use. Caveat Emptor I guess.

I suggest that when ever you buy something off Ebay you better know what your getting, because the seller might not know what hes selling. Do you homework and you should be ok. Never buy without a picture either.

good point... as the internet is a great resource, i always use it before i buy anything...

when i bought my newest daily driver, the dealer and i were very "bottom line" like... he basically told me that buyers comin' into the dealers are now so much informed on car values, prices and re-sell value.... so true!

so do your research before you click that BUY IT NOW button!
