new truck. 69 C10
Well, no pictures yet, but I essentially just bought a 1960 C10 6 cyl, 3 speed man (converted to floor shift). It's got a bunch of rust, but should run and drive. And the price was right. Also comes with a bunch of replacement panels. I found it on CL, and really wanted to get it for a beater, but didn't have the space for it, and didn't have the disposable cash at the moment. I showed it to a guy at work who I talked to alot obout my trucks cause he has one. Turns out, the one on CL was his. We talked a bit and he said he could store it til spring, and I could pay him when I got the chance. I said OK, and the deal was done. Now I haven't looked at it in person (going to do that tonight) but it looks like with a little bit of work, I'll have a decent beater truck I can use to pick up parts in. He said he even might be able to get it running and driving with me so I could just drive it home (since there is a 70 suburban on my trailer right now)
So hopefully tonight I can take a look at it and will know what I got myself into. Unfortunately, the girlfriend didn't like it when I mentioned it to her, so hopefully she warms up to it before spring when I have to bring it home.

OMG, you're worried what the g/f thinks? What about when she's your wife? Will she even let you spend time working on it?
I got my truck with the express strongly repeated permission from the wife to spend time on it. lol. Good luck, enjoy your beater. It's drivin me nuts not being able to drive my truck right now with all the slick roads. (raining, bringing up the oil) (need smilie with a guy spinning out in the truck sideways)

Good luck with your new truck. Girlfriends are like front ends: Sometimes they periodically need realignment!

Re: new truck. 69 C10
Well, the girlfriend is fine with the hobby, just wants to see one of the projects done with first.
And here are pictures. It's rougher than I though, and probably will end up being parted, but for the price I can't complain. Heck, I have a guy who wants the front seat for $100, and that's 1/3rd of the price. So it'll sit here til the spring when I can hopefully get it dragged down to my place and either build it or scrap it. (If I built it, I would probably make a crew cab using the left over parts from my suburban) Still not sure what replacement panels I will be getting with it yet, but those should be worth more than the price alone. There is a lot of rust, but I may just cab swap it and drive it until I can do something else with it. We'll see what parts come around between now and then.

Good for some parts, but I wouldn't even pay $300 for it, but that is just me...

Re: new truck. 69 C10
Wow! Not trying to be smart but that's the worst rust attack I have ever seen on this board. If it was my truck, I think I would have it put to sleep.

Re: new truck. 69 C10
Yeah, the more and more I look at it, it's probably getting parted out.
The bumpers, tail gate, interior, motor, trans and the pile of new parts are probably all I am going to keep from it. I'll throw it back up on Craigslist when I am done and should be fine money wise. In my area, many of the trucks look like this or worse. I am working on contacting the owners of two blazers here that are in much worse shape, but have a bunch of parts I need. One has less sheetmetal than this, and a perfect top and hatch. So we'll see. I have got til spring to figure something out. If I happen across a decent cab between now and then for cheap, who knows. Once the suburban is gone though, it might be next for the parts threads.
